Description
Feasting In The Wild Country is a cookbook written by fellow Backpacker (and Brasslite Stove fan) Mary Holmes. It features the Brasslite Turbo II-D as the stove of choice for her backcountry cooking. It’s part recipe collection, and part backpacking cuisine philosophy. Many backpackers avoid cooking “elaborate” meals when out on the trail. Ramen Noodles and Mac & Cheese are OK if you’re out for the weekend, but that quickly gets really boring if you’re gone for a week or longer. When the owner of Brasslite Aaron thru-hiked the AT, without question the number one comment heard from other hikers was a variant of “I think about food constantly, and I am so bored with what I’m eating.” Aaron dried most of his dinners in advance and drop shipped them. Most of those recipes were self-made. Having this book at that time would have been “heaven sent!” Mary has put together a unique approach to backcountry cooking that’s a “must have” for any backpacker who wants to expand their repertoire at mealtimes.
